Rockport Mine Tunnel at Lehigh Gorge State Park in Weatherly, Pennsylvania is an easy 0.1-mile out-and-back walk that leads to the abandoned mining tunnel known as the Rockport Mine Tunnel.
This is not a hike but rather a short walk to reach a roadside oddity within the Lehigh Gorge State Park. Visitors will find parking at the coordinates provided, near the end of Rockport Road. The walk to the mine tunnel is very short, just a few-hundred feet from the parking lot. Visitors will reach the abandoned mining tunnel to find a ~6-foot wide and ~4-foot tall opening in the mountain. The tunnel spans the length of this section of the Lehigh Gorge with an opening toward the Rockport Access parking lot -- visitors can essentially see all the way through to the other end. Due to the very-low height and chance for falling rock, entering the tunnel is dangerous and risky, so this GPS data doesn't enter the abandoned mining tunnel. You likely shouldn't enter either, for your own safety. Explore at your own risk.
While in the area, you might want to consider checking out Buttermilk Falls, Buck Mountain Falls, or Luke's Falls.
Parking
Visitors will find a large parking lot on the south side of Rockport Road just West of the Rockport Access Area for Lehigh Gorge and the D&L Trail. The lot is large enough to fit several dozen vehicles and is likely used as an overflow parking lot during the busy season for the D&L Trail.
Pets
Dogs are allowed only if leashed and must be cleaned up after.
Warning
Rockfall: Play it safe, stay out of the tunnel to prevent getting whacked by any random rockfall.
