Leonard Harrison State Park is closed now through September for construction of a new parking lot and vistior center upgrade. The Turkey Path on the Leonard Harrison State Park side is only accessible via the Pine Creek Rail Trail, the overlook area is not open to the public.
Beautiful, hot spring day. One tree down across the trail, just after the trail crosses Rt 362 from Darling Run Rail Trail Access Area, but easy to go around. Hiked up the steep section. Leaves were not out yet on the trees, so we had a pretty good view from the lookout. A few wildflowers along the trail – bluets, hepatica and mayapple. Birds were quiet, saw a few turkey vultures soaring on the warm thermals. THE TICKS ARE OUT!
Accessed the area off of Baldwin Road just north of Rt 287 and Rt 6 junction (a lot of heavy truck traffic on Baldwin Road). Parked at first gated forest road on left. Hiked unmarked forestry road beyond the gate, which came back out on dirt road with pipeline work, turned right to walk up the hill, nice view, and connected to gated forestry road to my left, Matson Road. Gate wasn't marked with Matson Road, first trail intersection I went past was Lost Trail (on the right, was marked). Further down the Matson Road, when it intersected with School House Trail (according to Tioga State Forest map, not marked), Matson Road was marked there. A vernal pool forming that the four- way trail intersection. Did not bushwhack to the point, but could see the "view" from the "trail" by taking the left "trail" at the intersection of Matson Road, assumed School House Trail. Nice hike.

Hiked the Colton Point Turkey Path. The trail is very steep and narrow compared to the Leonard Harrison Turkey Path which is a wider easier path. Have good tread on your shoes. About three quarters of the way down, the trail will Y, their will be a sign pointing out the "Trail to the Bottom", if you go right instead of left at the fork, you'll end up at Four Mile Run rather than Pine Creek.

Trail was in good shape considering the winter we had. A few of the trees with orange blazes have fallen down, but plenty still standing that it doesn't impact navigation. Spring beauty flowers blooming along the trail. Streams were flowing, only a couple wet spots on the trail. First time hiking this trail in the spring, a different view without the leaves out yet.
