Have walked the entire trail numerous times as I recently worked on the island. Trail is mostly very nice any time of the year. Plenty of on island parking. Beautiful views and especially in the Fall and Spring. Fantastic views of the city all around. See my posted pics.
Found this trail a bit steep in one area and deepish tree density most of the way. Very quiet. The waterfall was all but dry this afternoon. Very steep sidded downstream from the falls. Maybe best in the Spring or after a rainstorm. Easier access to the waterfall is from the dead-end road, Chapel Crest Terrace.
Today we completed about 90% of this trail in one go. Perfect weather and trail conditions. Many beautiful sights for photos. Interesting valley to explore below Red Trail down to the road. Up the hill from where Blue Trail crosses Crayfish Drive is an awesome pine grove. We found a stream (mostly dry now) that should be beautiful in the Spring. Rather an easy hike for those in our 60's.
We've.traversed this trail twice now. Easy to moderate difficulty. Beautiful. Great photo opportunity. Easy access from several points including from Wagman Observatory. Look also for the old water tower.
